Hechsher Kailim Course Outline

The following set of shiurim are meant to broaden our understanding of practical Kashrus in the public sector. We will learn about the laws dealing with the types of kailim that need t’vila, how to kasher various kalim – even for Pesach. The following is a breakdown of the shiurim:

Volume One Hechsher Kalim 120 – 121

1)      T’vilas Kalim – 120:1-2

2)      The Bracha – 120:3-7

3)      Borrowers, Lenders and Restaurants – 120:8-9

4)      Shvach Kalim – 110:10

5)      Handles, rust, minor, non-Jews and if one forgets – 110:11-16

6)      Hagalas Kalim – 121:1-5

7)      Cham M’katzo Cham K’kulo, knives – 121:6-7

Volume Two Hagala For Pesach 451 – 452

1)      Hide the Kalim you do not Kasher – 451:1

2)      The Knife, the Skewer and the Serving Spoon – 451:2-4

3)      Establishing the Status of the Kli – 451:5-10

4)      Frying Pans, Handles and Patches – 451:11-13

5)      Covers, Pestles, Baking Untensils and Flour Sifters – 451:14-20

6)      Barrels and Earthenware – 451:21-22

7)      Gazed Kalim, Glasses and Glass – 451:23-27

8)      Time for Hagala – 452:1
