Rabbi Aharon Lankry is a dynamic and electric individual with many years of international experience in the Rabbinate and in teaching Jewish studies. In 1989 he began his career studying in Kollel Ner Yitchak in Israel and in 1991 at the young age of 23 he took the position of rabbi of Ohel Leah Synagogue in Hong Kong, where supervised the kashrus hechsher, gave nightly classes and administered rabbinic functions to over 100 families. The following year he obtained his Smicha certification from Chief Rabbinate of Israel in the laws pertaining to Nidda, Kashruth, and Mourning. He then ventured to Edmonton, Canada where established the first religious day school, Kollel, and outreach program in Alberta. After securing his ongoing projects with proper infrastructure and the ability to achieve continuous growth, he returned to his wife’s hometown of Lakewood, New Jersey to establish an outreach program at Wharton University and in Elkins Park.
Rabbi Lankry decided to continue his education and in 1995 he received his certification as a Mohel and a short time later completed his certificate in Shechita, and in 2000 he received a certificate to officiate Jewish marriages and divorces from the Beth Din of Philadelphia.
From 2001 to 2008 Rabbi Lankry brought his multitude of talents to Aventura Florida where he became the chief rabbi of the renowned, Beit Edmund J. Safra Synagogue. With over 300 active members and 10,000 visitors a year, the Safra shul as it is known, is the largest synagogue in the Greater Miami area. While in Florida Rabbi Lankry established a Hebrew speaking day school, a Mikvah serving North Miami Beach and acted as Liaison for several pro-Israel organizations. After noticing Rabbi Lankry’s enormous success as a dynamic and influential Rabbi, the Safra family commissioned him to open a large community center and synagogue in the Upper East Side of New York City, catering to the growing needs of the Sephardic community and nearby Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital. A few years later he was asked to infuse his talents in Monsey, New York as Rabbi of Ohr Chaim synagogue where is presently using his talents to grow a vibrant kehilla.
This year we at the Yeshiva Pirchei Shoshanim College Program, have partnered with Rabbi Lankry to become our Director and to help us grow this organization beyond our wildest dreams. Rabbi Lankry continues to live his ongoing dream of spreading Jewish principles and bringing Klal Yisroel closer to the creator.
